Bavaria's Foreign Trade
Bavaria is embedded into the global economy to a great extent. Due to their extensive imports and exports, direct investments and international co-operations, Bavarian enterprises are important and successful partners on the world markets. This can also be seen in the Development of international trade in Bavaria (203 KB).
Also in 2011 export is again a decisive growth engine for the Bavarian economy. In 2011 Bavaria’s foreign trade developed well with a trade surplus of 13,9 % in the first three quarters compared with the same period in 2010. It has certainly paid off that Bavarian companies remained committed to international business also during the worldwide economic and financial crisis and were therefore able to overcome the sharp drop in exports during the crisis.
This export success shows that the range of products coming from the State of Bavaria is in great demand worldwide. Bavarian companies are strategically well placed in terms of global competition.
The Bavarian foreign trade policy supports Bavarian enterprises to set out for foreign markets, particularly small and medium sized enterprises. Bavarian foreign trade policy is closely linked to other areas like the improvement and internationalisation of vocational training and the setting of an advantageous framework for research, technology transfer and innovation.
The joint aim is that Bavarian enterprises continue to produce and export worldwide competitive quality and precision work and that they are successful in the global competition, thereby ensuring prosperity and jobs in Bavaria.
